Cognition SWE-1.6 Preview is an early preview checkpoint of Cognition's SWE-1.6 training run for software engineering agents, announced on March 1, 2026. Cognition reported that it was post-trained on the same pretrained model as SWE-1.5, ran at 950 tok/s, and scored 11% higher than SWE-1.5 on SWE-Bench Pro.
