Seed-OSS-36B-Instruct is ByteDance Seed's open-weight post-trained model derived from Seed-OSS-36B-Base and released under Apache 2.0. It supports a native 524,288-token context window, lets users vary the thinking budget—including requesting a direct response with a zero budget—and targets reasoning, agent, code, and long-context tasks. The Seed-OSS model card says pretraining exceeded 12 trillion tokens, while the Instruct checkpoint also underwent SFT and RLHF/PPO post-training, so its exact cumulative training exposure is not disclosed.
