Mercury's initial general-chat release is Inception Labs' diffusion language model introduced in 2025 for general text generation, distinct from Mercury Coder and the later Mercury refresh. It was available through Inception's API and OpenRouter's inception/mercury route, whose provider profile records availability in June 2025; the service name was subsequently reused for changed weights.
