Llama 4 Maverick Instruct is the post-trained, natively multimodal Maverick checkpoint that Meta released for assistant-like chat and visual-reasoning tasks. It uses 128 routed experts plus a shared expert; Meta reports rounded figures of 400B total parameters, 17B active parameters, about 22T pretraining tokens, a 1M context, and an August 2024 data cutoff, while the released Hugging Face checkpoint exposes 1,048,576 positions and contains exactly 401,583,781,376 parameters. The BF16 repository is released under the Llama 4 Community License, and Meta also released a separate FP8-quantized variant.
