GPT-4o mini Search Preview is OpenAI's fine-tuned, text-only search model for the Chat Completions API, released as the `gpt-4o-mini-search-preview-2025-03-11` snapshot; the shorter public ID was its alias. It is distinct from the Responses API's separate `web_search_preview` built-in tool, which at launch was used with the ordinary `gpt-4o-mini` model. OpenAI shut down the dated preview snapshot on July 23, 2026.
