Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite Preview was Google's March 2026 preview API release of a cost-efficient, natively multimodal Gemini 3-series reasoning model based on Gemini 3 Pro. It accepted text, images, audio, and video with configurable thinking levels and was optimized for high-volume, latency-sensitive tasks such as translation and classification. Google shut down the preview endpoint on May 25, 2026 and directed users to the stable Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite endpoint.
