computer-use-preview is OpenAI's specialized computer-using model for the Responses API, first announced as the Computer-Using Agent behind the Operator research preview in January 2025 and exposed to developers under its API identifier in March 2025. It processes screen pixels and controls a virtual mouse and keyboard to complete multi-step tasks across websites and desktop applications.
