Codestral 2405 is Mistral AI's first code model, a dense 22B open-weight model released on May 29, 2024 for code generation, fill-in-the-middle completion, and instruct-style code assistance across 80+ programming languages. It supports a 32,768-token context and uses Mistral's SentencePiece-based v3 tokenizer. The weights are licensed under the Mistral AI Non-Production License for research and testing; Mistral offered separate commercial licenses on request and retired the hosted `codestral-2405` snapshot on June 16, 2025.
