C4AI Command R 08-2024 is a 32B-parameter open-weight update to the original 35B Command R from Cohere and Cohere Labs, released in August 2024 with about 50% higher throughput, 20% lower latency, and half the serving hardware footprint. The text-only model supports a documented 128,000-token context (the checkpoint config declares 131,072 maximum positions), was trained on 23 languages and evaluated on 10, and targets multilingual retrieval-augmented generation with grounded citations, single- and multi-step tool use, reasoning, summarization, question answering, and code interaction. It was pretrained and then aligned with supervised fine-tuning and preference training; the weights use CC-BY-NC-4.0 with Cohere Labs' acceptable-use requirements.
